Payout threshold

The day-0 US/USD pilot uses a $50 payout threshold through Stripe Connect. A threshold keeps tiny transfers from dominating the payment operation while allowing smaller balances to carry forward.

Why not just send every amount?

Because each payout has fixed operational and processor overhead. The pilot treats Stripe fees as a platform expense rather than silently subtracting them from publisher earnings.

Does a small balance ever expire?

No. Anything short of the line rolls forward untouched, so a quiet month means the same figure arrives later rather than never.

How long is the first wait?

Arithmetic decides it. A site accruing a tenth of the minimum each month reaches its first transfer around ten months in; a site accruing double sees one every month with a surplus already building toward the next.

Can the figure be changed?

The current value is fixed at $50 for the invite-only US pilot. A future region or payment rail may need a different reviewed threshold, but participants should not infer one until it is published.

What goes wrong if it is set too low?

Fees become visible. Three small transfers cost three fees where one combined transfer costs one, so a low minimum quietly converts a fixed banking charge into a tax on being paid often.

Is this the same as an advertiser’s unspent funds?

No, and the two point in opposite directions. Prepaid money that has not been spent is still the advertiser’s and may never be committed to anything; a balance under the threshold has already been earned and is only waiting on the wire.
